UHM Homepage Proposals

An important step for the university to take in order to begin the journey of becoming a Hawaiian Place of Learning is to consider their online presence to the outside world. We propose that the university make the UHM Homepage bilingual with English and a button to translate the entire page to Hawaiian. This webpage represents the university to those who may not have the chance to visit from afar and it is a platform where Hawaiian language could make a difference where prospective students from the Continental U.S. will be able to see that UH is different from other schools. Having a Hawaiian language translatable homepage will also be attractive to local students coming in from Hawaiʻi high schools and Hawaiian language immersion and charter schools as well.

The National University of Ireland Galway is the perfect example of a university that has a completely translatable homepage that sets them apart from other universities. See the transformation from English to Irish below:
